Camp Description
Early learners will benefit from hands-on activities like reading books, singing songs, creating crafts, and playing in the Play Structure.

Special Presentations
Along with each weekly theme we offer a special presenter relating to the weekly theme. All campers are welcome to participate in the learning and fun. If your camper is uncomfortable with the presentation, they can engage in a different activity.

Themes

Each Session has a different theme and will focus on the key skills that preschoolers will have learned or will be learning at school. We will work on developing fine motor skills through cutting, drawing, and gluing during craft time. To add on to our weekly themes, we will be hand-selecting a number of books from local libraries for our Little Cubs’ Reading Time. During this time campers will have the opportunity to listen to stories.

Snack Time
A nutritious snack will be provided everyday in the Lion’s Den. We believe that snack time provides an opportunity to talk to campers about the importance of making healthy choices. We also try to make snack time fun by having the campers experiment with their food. Past snacks include Airplanes made from graham crackers and bananas, and Fruit Flowers made out of strawberries, blueberries, celery, and cheerios.

Crafts
Our crafts reinforce campers’ knowledge of colors, opposites, shapes, numbers, the alphabet, and much more. Little Cubs will love the awesome projects they get to create and share with family members when they leave camp. Our crafts will give campers a chance to practice gluing, cutting, beadwork, painting, and coloring.

Fitness & Nutrition
Daily fitness and healthy eating are among our main focuses at Safari Run, so we have designed games and activities to teach children about how to make healthy choices at an early age. For Little Cubs, this means teaching the Food Pyramid and the new Food Plate. A popular game we play is Food Hide & Seek in the Play Structure which incorporates learning in with play time to make it educational and enjoyable for the campers.

Personal Best Skill-Building
In addition to all of the basic skills such as colors, the alphabet, and nutrition, we teach skills on how to develop our personal best. These topics range from taking turns, fair play, asking permission, and respecting others. We teach the importance of friends and family, and how to help others such as helping parents put away groceries or doing a household chore the first time they are asked. Campers will learn these lessons through games we play that incorporate learning and fun.

Special Events at Safari Run!
We offer a special presentation from an expert in the field we are learning about. All campers are welcome to participate in the learning. If your camper is uncomfortable with the presentation, they can engage in a different activity. These presentations are an amazing way to learn and get up close and personal with some amazing animals and experts on science, nature, and magic!

Themes
Weekly themes bring extra fun and excitement to our program. We mold our weekly schedules around the themes, including our daily craft, snack, games, and fun fact trivia.

Snack Time
A nutritious, tasty snack will be provided every day. Snack time provides an opportunity for the campers to mix, mash, stir, and create their own delicious works of art. Some examples of past snacks are Fruit Kebobs, Pop Your Own Popcorn, and Jungle Juice Smoothies.

Crafts & Fun Activities
Crafting can be very rewarding, but can also be a little daunting. We offer age-appropriate crafts along with a well organized work area. We encourage our campers to try and do their personal best. We offer craft time every day. We also practice math skills through fun activities, such as 3-dimensional objects, reviewing how to read a clock, adding numbers, and counting money in the Shopping Game. Safari Adventurers will also have a chance each week to check out their favorite fiction books from our Safari Library and have reading time in the Play Structure (“Hide-n-Read”).

Fitness & Nutrition

Daily fitness and healthy eating are among our main focuses at Safari Run. We have designed games and activities to teach children about making healthy choices. Campers in the Safari Adventure Camp will be learning all about the Food Pyramid and the new Food Plate, why it is important to exercise every day, and the differences between “GO,” “SLOW,” and “WHOA” foods.

Personal Best Skill-Building
We take great pride in teaching children skills that they can go home with and immediately put into action. We have created games that teach and reinforce good manners like setting the table, helping out family members with chores, and being courteous to others.

Passports (Always a BIG Hit!)
Safari Adventurers will receive a Passport at the beginning of each session to help them keep track of their travels while at Safari Run camp. Passports encourage learning and discovery through activities, games, and stickers. If your camper is signed up for more than one session at Safari Run Summer Camp, they will be able to collect stickers in the same Passport throughout the summer!

Camp Description
This is not your little sister’s summer camp! Road Trippers will be exhausted at the end of each day thanks to sports, games, and everything fun under the sun. They’ll be begging you to drop them off early the next day!

Destinations
One of the main draws to our Road Trip Camp are the destinations we go to each week. We have selected one very special destination for these older kids to travel to, based on our research of what activities kids ages 8-12 love. Road Trippers will be transported by our Safari Zebra Bus, which has 24 seats equipped with lap belts, and is driven by a Class B licensed driver. The Road Trip Campers are the only ones who will leave Safari Run.

Sports
Our main focus at Safari Run is fitness and nutrition, so naturally we have some sweet games and sports planned for our Road Trippers. They’ll be going to a local park each day (except for the day when they go to their Special Destination) where they will be able to play basketball, soccer, flag tag, frisbee, football, and relay races. We have received a lot of positive feedback on this aspect of our camp, so we are keeping all the sports and blood-pumping activities in the daily schedule. We keep the kids hydrated and safe, as they will be provided with their own water bottle and bright Safari Run T-Shirt.

Field Trips
Field Trips are the part of our Road Trip camp that kids love the most. And we love them too! The reason we named this camp “Road Trip” is because campers will learn about new and exciting places and meet new friends. If your child wants to have an amazingly fun time this summer, look no further. Safari Run’s Road Trip Camp is the camp for them! Every day your camper should come with a backpack containing lunch, sun block, a hat, an extra snack, and a swimsuit & towel on beach or pool days.

Presentations at Safari Run

Over the course of the summer we will have special presenters at Safari Run. The Road Trippers will have the opportunity to participate when the Happy Birds and the Lizard Lady come to Safari Run. We originally had these scheduled just for the younger campers, but the Road Trip campers loved these two presenters so we are including all age groups together.

Snack Time

A nutritious snack of fruits, veggies, and grains will be provided every day in the Kitchen and/or at our Destinations. We will practice measuring and pouring while learning how to read a recipe. Campers will also learn about the Food Pyramid, the Food Plate, and the importance of making healthy choices. Some examples of our past snacks included Jungle Juice Smoothies, Make-Your-Own Ice Cream, and Chillin’ Out Shaved Ice.

Crafts/Experiments/Activities

Road trip campers will enjoy making crafts, conducting experiments, and engaging in fun activities. Examples include making friendship bracelets, Minute to Win it games, making lanyards, creating goop, designing hacky sacks, and much more!

What to Bring

A labeled backpack or bag that contains extra clothes, extra snack food (if your child is a picky eater, has special needs, or might have a bigger appetite), and a bagged lunch. We prefer to keep our facility peanut-free due to children who have allergies. Please let us know if your child has a food allergy so we can make the appropriate accommodations.
